BSA Merit Badges

BSA Whitewater Merit Badge

While River Recreation is not a part of the Boy Scouts of America, we are proud to offer professionally taught river education classes that meet all the required skills for merit badges. These classes are taught by American Canoe Association and Rescue 3 international certified Instructors.

Each participant should have completed a copy of the Whitewater merit badge worksheet before the day of their adventure. Please make sure they bring a copy with them to the river. You must be at least 10 years old and the ability to swim is required in order to go on this trip. At the conclusion of the class, our head instructor (who is a Whitewater Merit badge counselor) will be signing off on the BSA Whitewater blue card to certify that all required tasks have been met for all scouts, so don’t forget those blue cards!

Each scout and troop leader will be outfitted with raft and instructor, wetsuit, booties, PFD (Type 5 Personal floatation devise) helmet, and spray top. Please note, each scout will need to supply a lunch and water to keep hydrated. Other safety gear and equipment will be incorporated into class, all provided by River Recreation.
