Dangerous Don (Don)
Dangerous Don comes to us from the tundras of Alaska where he used to boat by day and sleep under a raft at night with no more than a wool cap and fleece jammies. He began his career as a raft guide during a summer job in college. The Wenatchee is Don's favorite river and the bigger the water, the better. Not only does Don run River Recreation and serve as the company's Head Instructor for the Guide Training class, but he is also a Rescue 3 instructor. It's amazing that this guy has much time for anything else!! Words of wisdom from Don: "The river doesn't care, so you have to be safe!"
Idea of a good time:
Paddling as hard as you can and then finding the will power to paddle even harder.
Wildest river trip:
"The north fork of the Skykomish River at flood stage - never again!"
Craziest river story:
"Too many to pick from!"
Other hobbies:
Skiing, hiking, camping, swimming in rivers, sleeping by rivers, playing at rivers...
Favorite food:
A fat steak barbecued at the rivers edge.
Favorite drink:
Canadian beer AFTER the trip.
When not in the water, Don loves spending time with his two favorite girls, his 11 year old daughter, Taylor and his girlfriend. Both can be found co-guiding with Don on many of the rivers he runs. Taylor also currently holds the lead position of "future guides of River Recreation."
